Okay, so literotica dot com seems to be a monstrously huge website. Has any of "you author people" around here any advice to offer? Should I bother to sign up? Is it helpful for improving my writing? Is BE even present or accepted at that site? Is it worth the effort of signing up and posting stories there? (I suppose any BE may end up in the "Fantasy & SciFi" category anyway...) They seem to have quite a few editors/proofers, which might be beneficial... Questions, questions...

I can see no reason why you shouldn't sign up - not being a solely boob-related site exposes your work to greater numbers. The fact that my stuff is there shows that BE is accepted, but readers aren't clamoring for it as they do here. My experiences have been mostly pleasant, and the vast majority of my feedback was been warmly supportive. That being said... You have zippity doo-dah control over the look of your piece. They have their own formatting. Readers can vote anonymously on your work, and trolls abound.

Yes, I noticed they treat it "plain-text" so it flows better into their layout. Not really a big problem, but since I like to have fun with italics (mainly for inner dialogue and sound effects ), I guess I’ll have to use their file upload and leave adapting to them, which they said will take extra time. As for the trolls, oh well. It’s the internet ETA: Did you publish BE over there? Under what username? ETA2: Never mind, found it and yay, right the first story has italics preserved! ETA3: Nice new avatar, by the way

The Peripheral Cocksucker is listed there, under the author Big_Kahuna_69 (Big Kahuna was taken, natch'). Yes, their submission process does take time if you submit .html. I just waited two days for them to reject my newest piece, due to a web address at the end. They also don't do underage, which is no skin off my nose (although storiesonline.net does, of which the sheer number of stories makes me want to puke). Storiesonline.net also allows copyrighted characters, which is why my work can be found there, as well.

I only got one store in there, but the process seems to be 1) find an editor - they're a lot stricter about grammar and spelling there 2) have them look it over - then submit.
Every time I submitted something without an editor, it was rejected...at least at first. So if you want to put something up there, just try the above.

I will... I’ve started my "career" by submitting YT pt.1 (which was proof-read by Kanodin and Merkava, thanks btw), and I’m curious as to what kind of initial mod response I’ll get After that, it’ll be looking-for-editor time, which experience has show me is somewhat ... sigh ... difficult. Not that I’m in a hurry or anything. Then again, some of the stories I’ve seen there had their fair share of blunders even I wasn’t able to overlook, so maybe I’ll do OK. If not — oh well, it’s just a hobby after all. Maybe I’ll also receive a really abusive comment some time soon Someone interested in proofing a three-parter with some berry-based gts stuff?

...it got accepted on first try. Kind of makes me wonder what they’re using to convert the files. I uploaded a .doc, and then I found this in plain-text right before the start of Chapter 2: margin-left:0in;text-indent:28.35pt;line-height:16.0pt;page-break-before:always'>
Come on. What kind of QA is that? I guess I’ll need to contact someone. Argh.

Just some ongoing observations: The "turnaround" time after submitting a .rtf file ('cause I'm so fond of italics and stuff) was about four days. Also, since I re-subbed the first part with a short foreword warning about the BE content, the weird thing with the visible style tags residue has been fixed, too. I've tagged the three accepted parts with "breast expansion". Searching for that gives a single (!) page of results. Wow. Now that's what I call "niche" Another thing I've found is that they seem to strip double newlines from the text, which is kind of ... difficult. I'll try and see if I can avoid that by putting a dash on the empty line, acting as "true paragraph splitter".

I'm confused is the (!) supposed to be a 1? I only ask because I'm curious to see how NON-BE erotic fiction sites consider the importance of the BE fetish. I don't think I could read a "swingers" short story unless it had something "else" going for it. AND I know I'd get bored with bondage fiction unless the author was a gifted writer. But I wonder how fast BE turns off the average erotic reader?

Actually, the "a single" part is supposed to convey the "1 page" thing. The "(!)" was more along the lines of these guys Blake Isaac Gordon wrote:I don't think I could read a "swingers" short story unless it had something "else" going for it. Don't we all Basically, either I can relate to the characters (in a "love" or "love to hate" way), or the wank fodder must be really good. Else: boooring, Trashcan/Ctrl-W. Blake Isaac Gordon wrote:But I wonder how fast BE turns off the average erotic reader?
No idea... I've added a "BE. Back off if you don't want that" blurb in the first paragraph, but I can't say how many people read through to the end - I guess the access counter triggers on the first page and doesn't check if the visitor reads all pages. So far, my page request stats are: pt1 since Feb 4, 2073 hits, 12 ratings, 4.08 average; pt 2 - Feb 9, 1981 hits, 10 ratings, 3.9 avg.; pt 3 - Feb 13, 1418 hits, 4 ratings, 3.25 avg. Written comments or feedback beyond the star-ratings buttons: Zero. Well, at least the admins haven't complained about grammar or something either though that may change, the fourth part of "Yrba's Travels" was never proof-read, and that's the one I'm going to upload next... I've fired up two mails to members of their voluntary editor program, but haven't heard back from them, either. The "looking for editor" posting in the forum resulted in one particularly unhelpful reply ("Sorry, I'm not interested in editing, but I'll read it"). On the other hand, I haven't received verbal abuse yet, and I was added to the "favorite authors" list of an Israelian lact/breast fetishist. Well... I tell myself, "Life's weird. Deal with it." (Alternatively, "Life's weird. We're weirder.")
